David Boomer
Program Manager
David came to us from Toronto, Ontario. Growing up in Canada, he was an avid hockey player, with athletics as a central focus in his life. Despite his early achievements, David’s life changed rapidly as he confronted addiction, facing the struggles that many young men experience while searching for their place in the world. Only after a tremendously positive wilderness experience in the Oregon desert did he find a brief reprieve beyond the restless pursuit of drugs and alcohol. This journey eventually led him to Foundation House, where he quickly immersed himself in the community and made a lasting impact on the program. David attributes his recovery success to the concept of the ‘Foxhole,’ which, for him, represents a commitment to accountability for those struggling alongside him. While AA continues to play a significant role in his life, he also finds meaning in the camaraderie of Foundation House’s alumni program.
Over the years, David has gained extensive wilderness and industry experience, which, combined with his love of the outdoors and team sports, has enabled him to develop a therapeutic programming curriculum for residents. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Southern Maine and hopes to pursue graduate studies in the near future.
