Peter Bergh

Program & Operations Facilitator

Young man with short blonde hair and a collared tan shirt on smiles in front of a blurred office settingPeter grew up in Morristown, New Jersey, in a family that valued hard work, accountability, and strong family bonds. After graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Sports Medicine and earning a Personal Training certification, Peter faced a long struggle with substance use. Although he managed to maintain many aspects of his life for years, he eventually made the decision to seek help at Foundation House, where he fully immersed himself in the program and the recovery community in Portland.

Before entering recovery, Peter struggled with vulnerability and asking for help. He often served as a sounding board for others while believing he needed to carry his own burdens alone. Through the Foundation House program, he discovered the value of authentic connection and learned that accepting support not only strengthened his own recovery but also allowed him to be a better friend, mentor, and member of the community.

Drawing on both his recovery experience and his background in fitness, Peter brings a unique perspective to his work as a Facilitator. He believes the discipline, consistency, and accountability required for physical health closely mirror the work of building emotional and spiritual well-being. Whether assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program, supporting residents through one-on-one conversations, or helping create a structured and supportive environment, Peter strives to ensure every young man feels heard, respected, and encouraged to grow.

Peter joined the Foundation House team in April 2026 and remains committed to learning, serving others, and helping each resident experience the same sense of hope and connection that transformed his own life.
