Susan Worcester, LCSW, LADC, CCS
Clinical Supervisor
Susan comes to Foundation House with a wide array of knowledge and experience. She is a licensed clinical social worker, licensed alcohol and drug counselor and certified clinical supervisor. She started her career with a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Southern Maine in 2013. She worked as a case manager for 4 years learning about vulnerable populations, mental illness and substance use disorders. She worked closely with the Preble Street Resource Center in Portland and realized she wasn’t able to help people as much as she wanted to and the way she wanted to. To do that she needed more knowledge. Susan decided to get her Master’s degree. She attended the University of New England and graduated in 2018 with Honor’s.
Susan has worked with agencies such as Shalom House, Groups, Southern Maine Healthcare, and CAP. She has experience with individual therapy, IOP, partial hospitalization programs, group therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and supervision of conditionally licensed therapists.
Susan built her own mental health and substance use treatment agency from the ground up, and it is still thriving today. She understands a multitude of levels of policy and procedure, as well as has a passion for supervising conditionally licensed clinicians as they grow into the independent practitioners that they will become. Susan has supervised LCPC-c, LMSW-cc, ADCA, and CADC clinicians and watched them grow into amazing, capable clinicians and supervisors themselves.
When not at work, Susan spends time with her son, Gavin, who is a senior in high school this year, and preparing for college in Orono in the fall. She also surrounds herself with family and loved ones. She challenges herself to tackle new things and push herself outside of her comfort zone, and to accomplish items from her bucket list. Last year was swimming with manatees, and the year before that was getting onto the local roller derby team.
