Andy Chaney, CRMA
Andy was born and raised in Champlain, New York. After graduation, Andy joined AmeriCorps’s “City Year” program working with inner-city youth to help create safe after-school programs. This program educated Andy on the importance of community service and grew his understanding of the challenges of underserved people in the community, helping shape Andy’s desire to help others. Andy has a long family history of addiction and entered treatment to address his issues with alcohol and drugs. Andy found life in recovery to be a far better option. After his mother succumbed to the disease of addiction, Andy made it his mission to help others and share the gift of recovery. He became a Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA) and began working at a local rehabilitation center.
Andy settled in Portland after becoming enamored with the city and its robust recovery community. He came to Foundation House because he genuinely believes in the company’s mission and witnessed the residents’ growth in the local AA community. Andy is excited to be part Foundation House family and to continue working towards his goal of becoming a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
