Lauren Columbare, LCPC
Primary Therapist
Originally from Massachusetts, Lauren is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in both Maine and Massachusetts. She recently relocated to Maine, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. Lauren holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling, as well as a master’s in education.
She began her professional career in 2016 and has since gained extensive experience working with individuals facing substance use issues and co-occurring mental health conditions across various levels of care, including inpatient hospitals, day programs, intensive outpatient programs, crisis triage, and outpatient settings. Prior to joining Foundation House, Lauren served as the clinical manager for an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
As a former Division I student-athlete, Lauren has a special interest and expertise in supporting current and former athletes, addressing the unique mental health and substance use challenges they may encounter. Driven by her passion for advocacy, she presented “Invisible Injuries,” a formal presentation on student-athlete mental health, during her graduate studies. This presentation aimed to raise awareness about mental health and substance use within the athletic community, reaching athletic departments, coaches, and staff members.
Lauren’s approach is both collaborative and individualized, fostering a therapeutic environment that is honest, authentic, and infused with a touch of humor. She incorporates a relational and trauma-informed framework into her practice, believing that the answers to the questions people wrestle with already reside within them. Her role as a therapist is to assist clients in uncovering those answers by helping them resolve the conflicts that stand in their way. With her compassionate demeanor and diverse background, Lauren is a valuable resource for those seeking guidance and support.
